The team aims to quantify, qualify and prioritize the functions of urban agriculture in its diversity, and to characterize the food systems in which it is embedded.

As an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional reference center for research for action on urban agriculture at the French, European and international levels, we contribute to increasing knowledge on technical systems for urban agriculture, their sustainability and their impacts in urban territories.In this perspective, we are working on two fronts. First, we analyze the technical systems and evaluate the sustainability of urban farms. The challenges are to deepen the knowledge of the development strategies of urban farms, their technical functioning, and the role of stakeholders (public or private actors) in order to identify economic models and sustainability indicators. Secondly, research is conducted with the aim of producing knowledge within the territories on food metabolism and on the roles of urban agriculture.
