Conflicts and Territories seminar

Conflicts and Territories seminar

Seminar co-organized by André Torre, Marianne Ehrlich and Thierry Kirat.
This seminar no longer takes place. It is replaced by the “Sciences-Society” seminar

The objective of this monthly seminar is to initiate discussion on the issue of space-related conflicts, and particularly on the place of conflicts in the construction and governance of territories.
There is significant interest today, in different disciplines, around the issue of conflict, particularly in urban, rural and peri-urban spaces. There is a need to analyze the categories of conflicts and tensions, as well as their origins and the ways they are expressed and resolved at the local level. The "Conflicts and Territories" seminar aims to open the discussion on these issues and take stock of ongoing work and recent scientific advances in research in the various disciplines concerned with the issue of conflicts. The debate, initiated from a presentation of finalized or ongoing research works, must allow a confrontation of experiences and contribute to increase our understanding of the dynamics of conflicts. Within this framework, we seek to develop knowledge related to the allocation of spaces to different uses (residential, recreational, productive, etc.), to characterize the economic, socio-cognitive and spatial interactions of the populations concerned, and the modes of coordination that they imply.
